John Lusk

     John Edwin Lusk, age 86, of Flora, Illinois, passed away Friday morning, August 12, 2022, at his home.

     He was born October 17, 1935, in Flora, the son of Frank Arthur and Anna May (McLaughlin) Lusk.  On July 26, 1958, he married Judy Meeks in Columbus, Ohio, and they have been blessed with 64 years of marriage.

     John was a 1954 graduate of Flora High School and served in the U.S. Army.  He was a dedicated and faithful member of Bloom Missionary Baptist Church.  As a heavy equipment operator, he was a member of Operating Engineers Local 841 in Terre Haute for over 60 years, and the Brotherhood of Boilermakers.  He farmed, and took great pride in tending to his annual garden and sharing his harvest.  John was a member of Flora Masonic Lodge #204 since 1961 as a 32nd degree Master Mason and was a Shriner. 

     John is survived by his wife: Judy Lusk of Flora; a daughter: Joanie Thompson of Flora; a son: John (Wendy) Lusk of Mesa, Arizona; 5 grandchildren: Tiffany (Matt) Devore of Sarasota, Florida, Dustin (Jennifer) Thompson of McKinney, Texas, Samantha (Heath) Grubb of Knoxville, Tennessee, and Andrew Lusk and Timothy Lusk of Mesa, Arizona; 8 great-grandchildren: Chloe and Maddie York, Chase Devore, Ella, Nolan, and Kaden Thompson, and Hunter and Charlotte Grubb; and a number of nieces and nephews.  John is also survived by his faithful dog, Rambo.  He was preceded in death by his parents; a son-in-law: Bill Thompson; 4 brothers: Alan, Robert, Donald, and Kenneth Lusk; and a nephew: Alan Lusk Jr.

     Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday evening August 19, 2022, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora, Illinois, with Masonic Rites at 7 p.m.

     The funeral ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 20, 2022, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home.  Entombment will follow at Bloom Missionary Cemetery with the presentation of military honors.

     Memorial donations are suggested to Shriners Hospitals for Children and these will be accepted through the funeral home.
