Kasandra Henson

     Kasandra Sue Henson, 35, of Marion, Illinois, departed this life on August 17, 2021, at Evelyn’s House in Creve Coeur, Missouri, after a brave battle with leukemia.

     A family celebration of life will be held at a later date.

     Kasandra was born on July 28, 1986, in Effingham to Sheila Sue Henson.  She attended North Clay High School in Louisville.  She previously worked at the Iron Skillet in Effingham, and she was also a housekeeper at several hotels in Marion and Effingham.

     Kasandra’s biggest joy were her three daughters, Kamarzhea McMillen, age 16, Kiauna McMillen, age 14, and Akira McMillen, age 11.

     Kasandra is survived by her three daughters and their father, Lincoln McMillen of Herrin; two brothers, Kaleb Kuhlman of Effingham and Kodie (Erin) McGrew of Flora; grandparents, Brenda Coleman of Xenia, Kit (Danny) McGrew of Flora, and Tom (Shirley) Henson of Xenia; aunts and uncles, Joey Henson of Xenia, Lara (Scott) Casolari of Louisville, Stevie Habbe of Louisville, Bridget (Donald) Deandre of San Diego, California, Tommy (Brandy) Henson of Xenia, Shelley (Robby) Hunt of Flora, and Leslie McGrew of Xenia; niece, Riley McGrew, and nephew, Kollan McGrew, both of Flora; special friend, Mary Ellen Eversman of Effingham; and many cousins and close friends.

     She was preceded in death by her mother, Sheila Henson; grandma, Peggy Kuhlman; and great-grandparents, Ed & Dorothy McGrew and Oliver & Martha Spicer.

     The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Siteman Cancer Center in St. Louis for providing exceptional care to Kasandra.
