     Betty L. Brown, age 84, of Flora, Illinois, passed away early Thursday morning, July 30, 2020, at her home.

     She was born September 11, 1935, in Rinard, the daughter of Clarence Aden and Mary (Hale) Spitzner.  She was united in marriage to Rex Brown on November 28, 1960, in Clay County, and together they have shared 59 wedding anniversaries.

     Betty managed the Country Kitchen in Flora for several years.  She enjoyed cooking, canning, and gardening, and was of the Christian faith.  She loved her children and grandchildren dearly and cherished time spent with family.

     She is survived by her husband: Rex Brown of Flora; children: Nancy (Wes) Cochran of Terre Haute, IN, Tressa (Stuart) Hamilton of Flora, Tammy Steward of Flora, Hank Brown of Flora, Julie (Kevin) Pride of Flora, Jeff Brown of Flora, and Kevin Brown of Flora; 10 grandchildren: Kenneth (Sherry) Morrison, Autumn Pride, Christopher (Joni) Brown, Dustin (Julie) Hamilton, Kaylee Hamilton (Benjamin Jordan), Brittany Brown, Tabby (Paul) Green, and Matthew, Kody, and Jordan Brown; 21 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; 1 sister: Joan (Bill) Pearce of Flora; 3 brothers: Bill Spitzner of Flora, John Spitzner (Mary Hutchens) of Flora, Mike (Connie) Spitzner of Clay City; 3 sisters-in-law: Sandy Spitzner of Flora, Earlene Spitzner of Cisne, and Geraldine (Bus) Foreman of Sailor Springs; and many nieces and nephews also survive.

     She was preceded in death by her parents; a son: Steven Hamilton; 2 granddaughters: Chasity Vaughn and Angela Jordan O’Dell; a grandson-in-law: Samuel Vaughn; 2 brothers: Charlie Spitzner and Melvin Spitzner; and a sister-in-law: Shaune Spitzner.

     A Memorial Ceremony will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, August 1, 2020, at Calvary Baptist Church in Flora.  A Memorial Visitation will be 10 a.m. until time of service on Saturday at the church.  Arrangements are in the care of Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora.  Memorial donations are suggested to Calvary Baptist Church or HSHS Home Care and Hospice and will be accepted through the funeral home.  To share a memory or condolence visit: www.frankandbright.com
