Brandi Renee Phillips, age 42, passed away on Sunday, June 10, 2018, in Louisville.
Brandi was born February 2, 1976, at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Effingham to Ron Courson and Lora Ann (Gould).
She worked as a nurse and raised and loved her two children. She was truly loved by her family and friends.
Brandi is survived by her son: Cody Gould of Flora; a daughter: Jada Phillips of Clay City; her father: Ron Courson of Louisville; two granddaughters: Aspen and Aria Gould; a brother: Niclous Courson (Dena) of Flora; a half-brother: Jeremiah Gard (Cassie) of Iuka; an aunt: Lana Gould (Alan Slagley) of Hord; and a niece: Kameron Huey.
She was preceded in death by her mother; and paternal grandmother: Berniece Schell.
A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, June 14, 2018, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Memorial donations may be made to the family to assist with expenses.

Maybe there was bad in you, but mostly there was good. You always "loved ya more" just like you knew you should. You always listened quietly, to every word I said. Always hugged me harder, wiped every tear I shed. I can't think about life without you, can't imagine life gone by, without you standing by me, without you by my side. Thank you for being my friend, besides the family that you were. Thank you for sweet memories that now are bitter-sweet to stir. We'll miss you Brandi, from this day on, never to forget the friend you were, the mother, sister, daughter, cousin, aunt. I'm sorry if I failed you, Brandi. I'm sorry if it wasn't enough. But I know the One who holds you now, you're enveloped in His love.
Brandi I'm so sorry, if only I 'd known you were struggling so much. I haven't been living around there for quite some time, but we've been friends for over 20 years. The kind of friends that can pick up right where they left off last time (right after we give each other big hugs). I would have done anything for ya girl and I wish you'd known how much you were loved and admired. Till we meet again beautiful lady, fly high and may God comfort and bring peace to all who knew and loved you.
My heart goes out to all the family, friends, and loved ones of Brandi. She was a beautiful person, inside and out. May she rest in peace with the angels. A very sad time for all who knew her.

Cody-Jada and family, my heart is just broken. Brandi was a wonderful young lady, regardless of her problems she will be remembered as a very caring loving young woman.
