Jesse Dale Carpenter, age 33, of Clay City, passed away on Monday, February 20, 2017.
Jesse was born May 16, 1983, in Olney, the son of Marla Raley and Sonny Dale Carpenter. Jesse attended Flora Assembly of God Church and was a treasured friend of many. He enjoyed listening to music, playing chess and cards, working Sudoku puzzles, and had many interests in life. Growing up, he excelled in track and basketball and many people still comment how they loved to watch him play. Jesse had a kind heart and brought joy to the lives of many people.
Jesse is survived by his parents: Sonny Dale Carpenter of Clay City and Marla Raley of Olney; a sister: Misty (Jarrod) Parish and children, Andrew, Britton, and Madison of Flora; a brother: Carl Carpenter and son, Bradlee of Flora; a son: Alex of Flora; paternal grandparents: Gene and Shirley Carpenter of Clay City; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents: Willard Carl and Dorothy Merle Foreman.
A Celebration of Life for Jesse Dale Carpenter will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 4, 2017, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Visitation will be from 2-3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers or gifts, memorial contributions can be made to Frank & Bright Funeral Home to assist the family with expenses, and these will be received by the funeral home. I'm shocked and can't find the words to express the feelings that are going through my mind. All I can say is we have lost an unique and special part of our entire being. None of us will ever be the same as before and personally I don't want to be. We never parted without a hug and telling each other our Love for each other. That is never gonna change. He is with me always and my heart reaches out for all that is greiving and I assure you all that he is with us forever.

Jesse was really a wonderful young man who just never got the breaks that a lot of kid do. Growing up his passion was basketball and he excelled in that. We will always remember the Jesse we knew when basketball was life.

I was heart broken when I heard about Jesse's passing this week. I remember spending 2 years with Jesse as I was the Youth Minister there in Clay City about 18 years ago. I remember Jesse always laughing and He Always had a Big Smile on his face. I will cherish the many great memories and stories I have of Jesse, and I will be praying for all the family for God's peace and God's strength for all of you!
My thoughts and prayers go out to you. I best remember Jesse from his school and basketball playing days. He was a kind and polite young man Time as I had him as a substitute teacher. My condolences to family and friends. Praying that the God of all comfort will hold you close in this time. It is good to hear that Jesse kept his perpetual smile from his junior high days when I knew him. I consider myself fortunate to have been around when that spunky little point guard was beating presses and creating turnovers with his defense. He was my wife's favorite ball player! If she wasn't at a game, she would ask, "How did Jesse do?" May this be a time of reflection, not only of our memories and moments with Jesse, but of our eternal destination. John 14:6.
