Carlene Neff, age 82, of Flora, Illinois passed away on Sunday, June 22, 2014 at her home in Flora.
Carlene was born April 2, 1932 in Winslow, Indiana to Carl and Virginia (Bartrum) Grogan. She married David R. Neff on June 17, 1950 in Flora. He preceded her in death on January 8, 1997. Carlene worked at the shoe factory, first attended E.U.B. and later First Church of God, and was a member of the Eagles and VFW Auxiliary. In addition to raising her family, Carlene also raised and took care of her grandchildren and enjoyed sewing and embroidery.
Carlene is survived by her children: Tarena Sylvia Hayes of Flora, Annettta Dorine Brooks (husband Shannon) of Toledo, Dana Tilden (Kambi) Neff of Riverton; 5 grandchildren: Amy (Donnie) Rogers of Flora, Ashley (Chris) Dawkins of Flora, Marshall (fiancé Tabitha) Enyart of Waveland, Indiana, Kiana Neff of Riverton, Noah Neff of Riverton; 6 great-grandchildren: Isabella Rogers, Jarod Sons, Brooke Rogers, Quadden Rogers, Azure Dawkins, Koby Dawkins; siblings: A.V. (Mary) Grogan of Washington, Indiana, Ben Grogan of Kentucky, Roberta “Bertie” George of Indiana; son-in-law: Jim Dunigan of Flora; sister-in-law: Kathryn Grogan of Kankakee; special friends including Joyce Watson, Della Deain, and Chris Osborn; along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 5 sisters (Lorena Sullivan, Faun Harned, Frieda McKee, Pearletta Behnke, Muda Sullivan), 3 brothers (Bill, Jack, and Alan Grogan), and infant twin siblings and a sister.
The funeral service for Carlene Neff will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 28, 2014 at Frank & Bright Funeral Home, Flora, with interment following in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday, June 27, 2014 at Frank & Bright Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made to the family to assist with expenses. Trena, Jim, Amy, Ashley, Donnie and all the great grandkids, We are so sorry for your loss. Carlene was a GREAT person. During this time of sorrow, trust and lean on God. He will lead you through it all. Take it from me, you will all make it. Just remember she is with Dave now and they are probably fishing. Love you all.

So sorry to hear about the passing of your mother. jay and I ran around with them in the 70's and 80's we as so much fun with them. I know you will miss her deeply.

Tarena, Amy, Ashley and Jim Carlene was a remarkable peson. It was a honor to meet her and make some wonderful memories. Live, Laugh, Love! You got to Live with her,Laugh with her and Love her as she loved all of you. Keep the memories alive and she will always be with you. As she is in a pain free happy place. My thoughts are with you and saying a pray to help guide you to memory lane.

There is so little one can say, but my heart goes out to you both - Tarena and Nettie. I was so saddened to hear that Aunt Carlene passed. She was a favorite aunt of mine and I always enjoyed going to her house. Mom and Aunt Carlene were very close in their younger days when their health was better. My thoughts are with you in this time of sorrow.

We were so blessed to have her in our lives. She is am amazing woman. We will miss her dearly.
My Grandmother (Pearletta) shared many memories of her family growing up. Though I only had the pleasure of seeing Carlene a handful of times in my life I have known her well through her sister. God grant you peace in her absence. I know she is missed.
