Rick Bowen Jr., age 54, of Cisne, Illinois, and formerly of Flora, passed away Monday, May 8, 2023, at his home.
He was born April 6, 1969, in Flora, the son of Richard Eugene and Pauline G. (Pickel) Bowen. He was united in marriage to Lori Forth and later Julie Quinn Briscoe.
Rick had worked as an engineer at North American Lighting in Flora. He earned the rank of Eagle Scout in 1985 and was a member of the Sons of the American Legion. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, watching television, attending concerts, and was a fan of the Dallas Cowboys.
He is survived by his parents: Rick and Pauline Bowen of Flora; 2 daughters: Hailey Bowen (David McClanahan) of Jackson, Missouri, and Emily Bowen of Terre Haute, Indiana; a grandson: Liam McClanahan of Jackson, Missouri; several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews; and 4 close friends that he considered brothers: Greg Beard, Tim Dickenson, Randall Baker, and Steve McKnelly.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents: Zeke and Mary Bowen; and maternal grandparents: Neva and Dwight Pickel.
A visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Memorial donations are suggested to the family to assist with final expenses and will be accepted through the funeral home. To share a condolence or memory, visit: www.frankandbright.com

I have many great memories of Rick from working at NAL. Rick was one of the toughest men I’ve seen. He had so many health issues and worked in spite of being eligible for full disability. He had tons of knowledge on Equipment and helped me out many times while I learned the equipment side. My sincerest condolences to his family & Greg Beard, as I know what a true friend he was to him. He will be sadly missed! Candy
