Dorothy L. Nichols, age 89, of Flora, IL died at 1:05 PM on Monday, July 23, 2012 at Good Samaritan RHC in Mt. Vernon, IL.

She was born on March 6, 1923 in Clay County, IL to Harve and Nettie (Sharp) Cash. She married Glen Nichols on August 30, 1941 in Cape Girardeau, MO. He preceded her in death on November 17, 1988. Her memberships included First Church of God in Flora, VFW Ladies Auxiliary, and the Rebekahs. Dorothy taught crocheting, enjoyed fishing, was a great cook, and loved her family, especially her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by two sons: Harvey Nichols of Edmond, OK and Mike Nichols (Julie) of Flora; a daughter: Glenda Harrison Oliver (Carl) of McAlester, OK; 5 grandchildren: John Harrison (Lisa) of Loveland, CO, Tim Nichols of Edmond, OK, Courtney Keller (Todd) of Naples, FL, Dusty Nichols (Kelli) of Edmond, OK, Avy Nichols of Flora; 4 great-grandchildren: Brian Lovett, Rachel Wallace, Cassie Lovett, Taylor Nichols; 4 great-great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law: T.L. Nichols of Palm Springs, CA, and several nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a granddaughter (Rikki Lovett), and 2 brothers (Dana Cash and Leland Sharp).

The funeral service for Dorothy Nichols will be held at 10 AM Saturday, July 28, 2012 at Frank & Bright Funeral Home, Flora, with burial following in Elmwood Cemetery, Flora. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM Friday at the funeral home. The family has requested that memorial donations in Dorothy’s name be made to Clay County Hospital Auxiliary and will be accepted at the funeral home.
