Gladys Sutton, age 94, of Decatur, IL formerly of Flora, IL died at 5:19 AM on Sunday, July 15, 2012 at Decatur Memorial Hospital in Decatur.

She was born January 13, 1918 in Clay County, IL to William H. and Martha Jane (Brim) Sutton. Gladys owned and operated Donna’s Beauty Shop in Flora for 40 years. She also loved volunteering her time as a member of the Clay County Hospital Auxiliary. In 2005 she moved to Decatur to be closer to family and wanting to stay active joined St. Mary’s Hospital Auxiliary. Gladys loved making new friends at St. Mary’s and at Tanglewood Village where she lived and enjoyed church services. She will always be remembered for being a loyal friend and aunt.

She is survived by many nieces and nephews and was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers (Jewel, Dean, and Lowell Sutton), and 2 sisters (Bonnie Myer and Edith McElyea).

The funeral service for Gladys Sutton will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at Frank & Bright Funeral Home, Flora, with Rob Clifton officiating. Burial will be in Floral Garden of Memories, Flora. Visitation will be held from 10 AM until time of service on Wednesday at the funeral home. The family suggests memorial donations be made to St. Mary’s Hospital Auxiliary.
